~Amphibians~

Many people may not like frogs or snakes, but they often appear as motifs in monster and special effects movies, and surprisingly many people are attracted to their coolness and unique shapes. This time, we will introduce some of our friends at the facility.

Mexican Salamander

In Japan, they were called “axolotls” and became all the rage in the 1980s. They are cute and soothing with wide-set eyes and a big mouth that looks like a smile. They hide amongst aquatic plants with bushy gills on both sides of their face. They have the rare characteristic of maturing as larvae without metamorphosing as they grow.

Suriname toad

They do not have the large eyes characteristic of frogs, and are said to have almost no eyesight. They have flattened bodies like dead leaves or rocks to deceive predators, and the female has an amazing biology in which she buries and incubates dozens of eggs on her flat back.

Argentine horned frog

Its soft, squishy, mochi-like body is engraved with geometric patterns. It camouflages itself as a leaf and reflexively catches prey that passes in front of it. Its movements are surprising and agile, but it doesn’t move much otherwise.

are also popular!

Green Anaconda

They are known to be some of the largest snakes in the world, and the snakes kept
at our facility are over 4m in length.

Blue-tongued skink

Its long body, short limbs, and plump
body are cute. Its blue tongue
intimidates its enemies.

Red-footed Tortoise

They spend their entire lives on land and can walk quite fast.

Drawing Aquarium “Kokoumi”

With just a swipe, the fish you draw on the touch panel will swim out into the ocean on the giant screen. This is a hands-on attraction that will stimulate your child’s imagination.

Color or draw patterns on the monochrome illustrations of clownfish, dolphins, jellyfish, and more that are displayed on the touch panel, and then swipe towards the screen! Soon, the fish you drew will appear, emitting light, and start swimming in front of your eyes. If you look closely, you’ll also see empty cans and bottles floating in the ocean, so touch the screen directly to help clean up the ocean.

Ah, here it comes!
The one I drew

Kids touch pool “Piilo”

“Piilo” means “hideout” in Finnish.
This is a place where you can experience the same excitement
you felt as a child building secret hideouts out of cardboard.

This is a toy pool where you fish by sticking magnets together.
It’s a simple and easy-to-understand game that children become obsessed with.

The museum, which is modeled after a Nordic forest, features a model of NIXE Castle (height: 116 cm x width: 165 cm). A touch pool is set up to resemble the moat and lake surrounding the castle, creating the atmosphere of the model castle, Jesko Castle.

In the corner where you can take off your shoes and play, there is a touch panel (the monitor surrounded in pink) for the “Nyx Creature Quiz,” so please give it a try. The questions will have even adults thinking hard, and you’ll have a surprisingly good time.
